Qualities

Students who have a strong interest and willingness to work in the global health field, multicultural integration, coordination, leadership, and possess the ability to communicate efficiently in the foreign language needed for their professional field.

Required Experience

MTM

Students with a doctor’s license (a doctor’s license from a foreign country also accepted).
Students with two or more years of clinical or corresponding experience.

MPH

Although not strictly required, we prefer students with work experience (in Japan or abroad, the employment position doesn’t matter), and community service experience (volunteer). After graduating from a valid educational institution (university, nursing schools, etc.), the student has experience working with organizations such as JOCV (Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers), NGOs, government agencies, or in the private sector (in Japan or abroad).

MSc

Students from diverse backgrounds. No special work experience needed.

Attributes of Desired Candidates

  1. Willingness to contribute to the promotion of global peace and human health.
  2. Ability to be active internationally (capable of communication in English, multicultural integration and showing leadership skills).
  3. Ability to practice self-reflection.
  4. Proficiency in a foreign language to communicate in professional fields.
  5. Basic knowledge relating to international health expected from the holder of a bachelor’s degree.
  6. Shows a strong interest and desire to work towards international cooperation in the global health sector.

General Policy for Student Selection

In order to enroll the best candidates possible, a comprehensive evaluation will be conducted for both domestic and international students. Academic ability along with submitted documents, qualifications, practical ability, and experience will all be taken into consideration.

Please note that ALL applicants MUST submit an English test score (IELTS, TOEFL, or TOEIC) received within the past 2 years.

Please ensure that your IELTS score has not expired prior to submission.

If applicant must (re)take their English test prior to submission, please note the dates of the tests as they are only held on specific dates during the year.

It will take approximately 1-2 months for test scores to be issued (the exact time will differ depending on the test). For details please check with the administrators of your chosen test.

SCREENING METHOD

DOMESTIC ENTRANCE EXAMINATION: Paper test + Interview
INTERNATIONAL ENTRANCE EXAMINATION: Interview only

Tropical Medicine Course (MTM)

Both domestic and international entrance examinations will be conducted in ENGLISH ONLY.
Results of the entrance examination and the submitted application documents will be comprehensively evaluated.

International Health Development Course (MPH)

Domestic entrance examinations will be conducted in JAPANESE with a portion of the interview being conducted in English.
Application documents and the short essay can be in Japanese or English.
Results of the entrance examination and the submitted application documents will be comprehensively evaluated.

International entrance examinations will be conducted in ENGLISH.
Results of the entrance examination and the submitted application documents will be comprehensively evaluated.

Health Innovation Course (MSc)

Domestic entrance examinations will be conducted in JAPANESE with a portion of the interview being conducted in English.
Application documents and the short essay can be in Japanese or English.
Results of the entrance examination and the submitted application documents will be comprehensively evaluated.

International entrance examination will be conducted in ENGLISH.
Results of the entrance examination and the submitted application documents will be comprehensively evaluated.
